„Cars From Ukraine” / „Tри Mашини” will premiere in the Warsaw Film Festival's competition!
The documentary film „Cars From Ukraine” created by the winners of the Gdynia Film Festival – director Alicja Sokół and cinematographer Kajetan Falkowski – will take part in the Short Film Competition of the Warsaw Film Festival, which qualifies for an Oscar! The 39th edition of this prestigious event will take place on October 6-15.
The Warsaw Film Festival is one of the elite group of events accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations as an international competitive film festival – alongside such prestigious festivals as Cannes, Berlinale and Locarno. The films that win in the Short Film Competition have an open path to an Oscar. Variety magazine included WFF twice in its rankings among the twenty most important festivals in Europe and among the fifty festivals in the world that should not be missed.

Our documentary „Cars From Ukraine”, selected for the 39th edition of WFF, presents the story of three Ukrainian families who found asylum in one of the Polish seaside towns. Refugees share their experiences of dramatic escape from war-torn Ukraine. Their stories are illustrated with incorporated into the narrative animations.
The film's director is our graduate and lecturer, Alicja Sokół. The young creator has received many awards and distinctions for her achievements so far, including Lucjan Bokiniec Award at the 46th Gdynia Film Festival for the short feature „My Brother a Fisherman”. Kajetan Falkowski, a cinematography graduate of the Warsaw Film School, also worked on this production and was also honored in Gdynia with an award for the best cinematography from the Heliograf company.
